Man Calls 911 After Being Evicted by Pet Cat

Despite the internet’s love affair with cats, there can be no denying that the little felines often have some real attitude problems. In fact, the fur balls usually demonstrate a wanton disregard for human beings and their belonging (see exhibit A, below).

Well one cat has taken its reign of terror a little further than most by physically evicting its owner from his house. That’s right, a man in Stamford, Connecticut has been forced to flee his home because of his overly aggressive pet kitty.

But far from accepting his fate as a homeless man – which probably would have been the honourable thing to do after be deposed by a small domesticated creature – the cat owner in question called the police for back-up, with a recording of the emergency 911 call quickly going viral. You can listen to it here:

In case you couldn’t make that out, the unnamed caller said: “My cat was getting too aggressive, and I was inside, and then he attacked me, he scratched me in my leg and he bite me.”

He continued: “So me and my wife, we come outside, and now we cannot go in the home for like three to four hours.”

In a tone that was more begrudging and bewildered than actually concerned, the dispatcher agreed to send an officer out to deal with the issue. And with the track record of the US police these days, it is safe to say the cat has probably been shot (although as we cannot verify the colour of the cat, we cannot confirm or deny these claims).

The fearsome feline reportedly weighed a little over seven pounds, which, following some thorough investigative journalism, we can tell you is roughly the same as: a four-slice toaster; a newborn baby; or, more adorably, two boxes of wine. The horror, the horror.

You’ve Been Pooing Wrong Your Whole Life, Says Science

toilet-texting-628

One of the first things that we, humans, learn to do as a child is defecate… ok, so we don’t ‘learn’ how to do it per se – there is not an instruction manual, parents are not performing a demonstration for their young child to follow – but it is fair to say that we get to grips with pooing pretty much from day one.

Well, prepare to see the very foundations of your worldly beliefs crumble right before your eyes as we tell you that you don’t actual know how to poo. That’s right, you’ve actually been doing it wrong your whole life.

Don’t take our word for it – it’s science; Giulia Enders, who is currently studying for her doctorate in microbiology in Frankfurt, has written her debut book entitled Darm mit Charme, which translates as Charming Bowels, obviously.

In the book, which has sold a not-to-be-scoffed-at 200,000 copies in her native Germany, Ms Enders provides the reader with detailed descriptions of how you should really be releasing your digested food matter. And yes, fear not, there are plenty of pictures. Plenty.

Step one: don’t sit down. The act of sitting, rather than going for a leisurely squat, prolongs the whole faeces-passing process. And while the invention of smartphones means that many people are in no rush to relieve themselves, taking a long time to go number two can actually lead to haemorrhoids and bowel diseases like diverticulitis.

Indeed, bathroom squatting is standard practice across Asia, and the facts suggest that it is a far healthier (and many would say cleaner) way to go poop.

And it’s not just how you should pass waste – Ms Enders also focuses on when you should deposit the leftovers and what should be in it. That’s right, from what constitutes a healthy, poo-friendly diet through to understanding your daily bowel movement cycle, this German’s fascination with the brown stuff knows no bounds… the things people do in the name of science!

It Was a Nice Day for a White Wedding… Thousands Marry in Mass Ceremony

wedding-322034_640

Around 3,800 couples tied the knot this week at a ceremony organised by the Unification Church in Gapyeong, South Korea.

Around 800 of the couples had been ‘matched’ at an engagement ceremony only a few days earlier, before exchanging vows at the Cheongshim World Peace Centre on Tuesday.

The brides had no fear of upstaging each other, as all the ‘Moonie’ couples were dressed in identical white dresses and dark suits.

The mass wedding attracted thousands of couples from 50 different countries.

A Canadian bride, Nadia Famularo said: “It’s exciting. It’s overwhelming. It’s a really happy day.”

The Unification Church was founded by Reverend Sun Myung Moon (pictured below) in Seoul in 1954. Moon presided over his first ‘blessing ceremony’ in 1961, after personally matching each couple.

Although matchmaking duties are largely left to the couples, ‘Moonies’ are still expected to abide by Moon’s strict teachings. Brides-to-be must confirm under oath that they are virgins and wild wedding nights are prohibited – couples must abstain from sex until 40 days after the ceremony.

This week’s event is the third since Sun Myung Moon’s death and was presided over by his widow, Hak Ja Han.

Can You Guess the Colour of this Dress?

dress-blue-or-black-white-and-gold-676x450

The dress that broke the internet: Blue and black or white and gold?

Recently, you may have heard of the dress that’s got everyone questioning their colour vision. Splashed all over the internet, the current trend is to decipher whether it is a combination of blue and black or bizarrely, white and gold.

Social media users have been divided over one half’s insistence that it is quite clearly blue material with black detailed stitching, yet somehow the other half are adamant that they can see heavenly hues of angelic white and divine gold. Teams have even been created for each opposing side – Blue and Black versus White and Gold.

The debate has caused such a stir that it has reached celebrity territory, with singer Taylor Swift seeing black and blue and actress Anna Kendrick insisting that its white and gold.

The main question undoubtedly is, what is causing such a colour split? Are some of us colour blind and don’t even realise it?

Let me tell you a secret – the original dress has indeed been confirmed as blue and black. Scientific explanations have attempted to explain why no one can agree on the colour – it is all to do with the context of the dress and the lighting in which our eyes view it.

Dyed Cat Dies After Woman Paints Pet Pink

ad_161478697

One of the great injustices of this world is that cats – everyone’s favourite feline pet – don’t come in a wide enough range of colours to be used as fully functioning fashion accessories.

For one Russian author, the frustration of not having a luminous pink cat to accompany her to a party of the same colour theme was clearly too much, so she came up with the ingenious solution: she would paint the cat.

We know what you’re thinking, ‘what a flawless plan, I’m going to go buy a tin of paint and decorate my own cat right now’. But stop, because unfortunately the home made cat-dying experiment had cat-astrophic consequences. That’s right, it tragically backfired and the dyed cat died.

Lena Lenina’s poor kitten, in an attempt to lick himself (yes, HIMSELF, as if the whole thing wasn’t cruel enough!) clean of his garish new paint job, ingested so much of the pink stuff that he lost not one but all of his nine lives, rendering him dead.

Unsurprisingly, Lenina, who works as a writer, has been widely criticised for the whole thing. However, she claims that her vet actually told her that it would be “beneficial” to paint the cat pink.

She said: “The pink colour was especially chosen for its healing properties and also strengthens the cat’s hair. My vet told me it was a beneficial addition to him.”

So the fact that the cat was taken to a ‘pink party’ shortly after being painted is a lucky coincidence because it was in fact recoloured for medicinal reasons. Phew.

An online petition has been launched demanding the local police to investigate the incident for animal cruelty charges.

Tape, sparrows, fireworks: Chinese children play real-life Angry Birds

Angry_birds_wallpaper_3

Parents have long scaremongered that video games will have dangerous effects on children and, unfortunately, their fears have been confirmed.
In China a group of children have been found playing a real-life version of Angry Birds, the hit app that has proven so popular around the world that it even has its own film in the offing.

In a rather gruesome twist, school kids in a park in the Shaanxi Province of China strapped small birds such as sparrows onto fireworks and unleashed the rocket-propelled feather balls at nearby objects.

Huang Chu, 45, came across the carnage in the park and reported what was happening to local police. The kids ran away as he approached but left behind one rocket that had not gone off, with a bird still helplessly stuck to the side of the firework.

Chu told Chinese media: “I spoke to an older boy who told me that the others had been playing Angry Birds, shooting the fireworks across the park and pretending to be playing the video game of the same name.

“I didn’t report it to police because it is illegal. However I posted images online because people should be aware of what’s happening and maybe it will increase pressure for animal rights laws to finally be introduced here in China.”

Angry Birds might have been a fictional game but in China right now there are certainly some angry birds because of it.

Culinary Renaissance: When Pancakes Meet Art

OriginalPancakes

Love it or hate it, you cannot deny that religion has given the world many wonderful things. For example, one day every year, today to be exact, it gives us an excuse to stuff our face with pancakes… or have we missed the point a bit?!

Either way, Shrove Tuesday, otherwise simply called Pancake Day to avoid confusion, has become an eagerly-anticipated event in the calendars of many nations. And while some people on Tuesday 17 February will just unimaginatively pile circular pancakes as high as they can until they resemble a spongy version of Pisa’s leaning tower, there are others out there who celebrate the occasion with a little more class.

So, to honour those who can think outside the box, or the circle, as the case is here, we are bringing you a video to show you just what can be achieved with a little imagination and elbow grease*.

*No elbow grease was actually used in the making of these pancakes – for best results use a non-stick frying pan, just FYI.

A slice of bad luck: Girl sacked over Twitter before even starting new job in pizza shop

Social media and work don’t always mix that well, as one girl in America found out all too abruptly.

Cella took to Twitter on the eve of her first day at a new job working in a pizzeria to tell everyone just how much she was looking forward to it. As you can see from the image below, she was not exactly brimming with excitement.

However, as a slice of bad luck, her tweet was seen by Pizza shop owner Robert Waple, who quickly alleviated Cella’s worries.

Cella, who tweets under the Twitter handle @Cellla_, is now the proud owner of two shiny new records: she is both the first person to lose a job before even starting it, and the first person to be given the sack over Twitter. Not only that but she has risen to internet stardom as a result of the event.

When asked by another Twitter user what her job would have been that she was so not looking forward to, Mr Waple responded: “Working register, taking phone orders, making subs/salads. Eating free pizza. How hard would that have been?”

Man hunts down crocodile that ate his pregnant wife

1A fisherman in Uganda has hunted down and killed a large crocodile after it ate his wife who was collecting firewood close to the edge of Lake Kyoga in the eastern part of the country.

Mubalak Batambuze, 56, was so distraught following the loss of his wife, Demeteriya Nabwire, over the weekend that he armed himself with a spear and hunted down the beast before slaying it. Nabwire was eight months pregnant at the time she was killed by the animal, reports have confirmed. The shoes she was wearing, plus several toes and fingers, were found at the lakeside spot by locals.

Batambuze has been hailed a hero for killing the crocodile, which is believed to have been responsible for the deaths of six other people, as well as a number of severe injuries inflicted on five others in recent months. It measured in at 7.5 metres long and weighed 157 stone, the Uganda Wildlife Authority said.

Peter Ogwang, a spokesman for Uganda’s Wildlife Authority (UWA), said: “We believe this was the same animal that killed the woman.”

According to the UWA, around 30 Ugandans are killed by crocodiles each year.

How about this for an extraordinarily expensive car collection?

The US boxer Floyd Mayweather has taken to Twitter to show off his stable of supercars – and his private jet. The undefeated champion, who has topped the Forbes highest-paid sports stars in the world list in 2012, 2013, 2014, has built up an enviable collection including Bugattis and Porsches.

Pictured with the fighter are a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport and two Bugatti Veyrons, plus two Ferrari 458 spiders and a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. A Porsche 911 Turbo S and a Lamborghini Aventador completed the line-up.

It’s estimated the cars are worth around $6 million and that’s before the value of his Gulfstream jet is taken into account.

The fastest and most expensive cars in the picture are the Bugattis. Top of the list is the Veyron Grand Sport, which a price tag of around $1.9 million – nearly as much as the private jet. The Veyrons sell for around $1.3 million (AUS $1.6 million) each, while the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is a relative bargain at $170,000.

Mayweather captioned the picture with ‘”Welcome to my toy world! Who wants to come out & play?”

The 37-year-old boxing star made a reported $105 million-plus in 2014 so he certainly has plenty of wealth to spend on high-spec luxury cars. Mayweather is estimated to be worth around $280 million.

He’s also recently shown off his valuable collections of shoes, sunglasses and watches via his Twitter account.
Mayweather is a five-division world champion and has won a total of 10 world titles.
